The Flower Festival (Jpn. Hana Matsuri) commemorates the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, some 2,500 years ago.
花まつりは 2500年まえにおうまれになった おしゃかさまのたんじょうをお祝いします。

This year’s program will include a gathering at Rissho Kosei-kai’s original temple in Nakanofujimi-cho, followed by refreshments and a light meal.

ことしは、中野富士見町の、立正佼成会発祥の地 道場でお祝いをします。そのあと、軽食と飲み物を楽しんでください。

 

Prior to the festival, there will be a special explanation of the mandala enshrined in the main hall as the focus of devotion. If you are interested in the tradition of Nichiren’s mandala, you may find this particularly meaningful. Participants will receive a diagram of the mandala and explanation in English. 

式典の前に、ホールにかけられている大曼荼羅（だいまんだら）について、英語の説明があります。関心のある方は、ぜひご参加してください。

Doors open（開場）: 9:30 AM

・Pouring sweet tea on the statue of the baby Buddha and offering flowers.
・Explanation of the Mandala by Dr. Scarangello（まんだらの説明）: 10:00 AM
Flower Festival Program（花まつり式典）: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

・Procession of Offering （仏さまへの供養）
・Recitation of the Three Refuges (三帰依）
・Messages of gratitude to the Buddha (仏さまへのメッセージ)
・Reflection: “The Birth of the Buddha” / Dr. D. Scerangello (ふりかえり)
・Meditation: “The Buddha Within Me, The Buddha Within You” (めいそう)
・Activity: “Let’s Find the Buddha” (“仏さまをみつけよう”)
・Singing Together (合唱)

 

Refreshments & Light Meal（飲み物と軽食）: 12:20 – 2:00 PM @Media Hall of Kosei Library
