IBC Sangha Gathering – In person/Online

Online Sutra Chanting
Buddha's birthday festival

On the first Sunday of the month, the English-speaking foreign residents’ sangha gathers to study the Dharma message from President Niwano and make a good start for the month.

Program:
- Recitation of the Three Treasures in Pali
- O-daimoku meditation*

* O-daimoku refers to the phrase “Namu Myoho Renge Kyo,” where “Namu” means “taking refuge in,” and “Myoho Renge Kyo” is the title of the Lotus Sutra in Japanese. During O-daimoku meditation, we feel one with the Buddha, and one with the universe.

The Three Jewels of Buddhism are: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. Sunday IBC gatherings are a wonderful opportunity for the sangha, to study and discuss the dharma. Topics can range from: readings from the Lotus Sutra, Rissho Kosei-kai articles, and other Buddhist documents. By attending IBC meetings, in person or online using Zoom, we learn more about both Buddha’s wisdom and compassion. Best of all, as we do this, our dissatisfaction decreases and happiness begins to replace it. Please give IBC Sunday gatherings a try.

“In my very short time attending the sangha gatherings and dharma talks at IBC I have been met with nothing but loving kindness and generosity from all members. The teachings are easy to digest and adapt to everyone’s individual experience!  It would be a joy to participate and watch the growth of such a loving community during such rapidly changing and turbulent times.”
